Anyone Can Be Saved
This is for the soul you have given up on.
The issue is not how far gone they are. The issue is how far Jesus has gone.
Jesus left heaven.
He came all the way down to earth.
He went all the way up to the cross.
He was on a mission to seek and save the lost.
And there is no one so lost Jesus can’t find them.
Jesus has never met a sinner he cannot save.
He once met a woman who had had five husbands and the man she was living with she wasn’t even married too. Yeah, she ended up telling her entire town to “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?”
He once met a tax collector who cheated people out of their money. Yeah, he ended up saying, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.”
He once met a man who was known for persecuting Christians on the road to Damascus. Yeah, he ended up saying this:
“The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,
of whom I am the foremost.
But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost,
Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example
to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.”
-1 Timothy 1:15-16
Yeah, this former murderer said that in one of the 13 books of the Bible he wrote.
So much for the “too far gone” theory.
This reminds me of my friend Johnny Miller. Johnny and I are like brothers. Johnny is the deacon of prayer at our church. He runs our prayer meetings on Monday nights. Only a few people show up but Johnny just keeps praying. He leads a group of men who pray for me Sunday mornings before I go to preach the sermon. Johnny doesn’t miss a Sunday.
In fact, the only time I can remember it getting tense between Johnny and me is when I said he should take a Sunday off.
One Sunday I was going to preach after someone had threatened me. When Johnny heard about this he gave me a call. He said, “I’m not really asking you. I am just letting you know that wherever you are this Sunday, I am going to be there too.”
This might shock you if you knew Johnny 10 years ago. You might have found him with a needle in his arm. You might have found him committing a crime. You might not have picked him as the type of person you wanted as a friend. If a better option came his way you might have found yourself alone.
Then Johnny met Jesus.
You should really hear what my friend Johnny says now:
Here’s Johnny on a crime he committed: Part 1
Here’s Johnny on his life of drug use: Part 2
Here’s Johnny on his life as a lead singer of a band: Part 3
Here’s Johnny on hearing the fruit of the Spirit for the first time: Part 4
Here’s Johnny on the sin of sexual immorality: Part 5
And the story doesn’t end here.
Today there is someone with a needle in their arm. Today there is someone waking up next to someone they are not married to. Today there are people burglarizing houses for drug money.
And today is the day of salvation! For everyone.
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” ~ Romans 10:13
Yeah, Jesus can save anyone.
Even Johnny. Even me. Even you.
Who’s next?
What an amazing testimony and so well done. I am again blown away but what God can do! My heart overflows with praise to Him and gratitude for those how have been co-laborers for the harvest. Praying for CBC HB, pastors and staff!
So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us. 1 Thes 2:8
What an awesome story showing once again that all things are possible with God. Thank you for sharing.
Chills!! Praising the Lord for His mercy and patience! Jesus Saves!!!
Praising GOD for the new creation Johnny is in CHRIST! What a powerful testimony of how GOD can change someones heart and their life!
2Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Pastor Bobby thank you for being faithful to keep up this blog, you have no idea how much it encourages and exhorts the saints to keep going! This is EXACTLY what I needed to read this morning. What a sweet reminder that Jesus came to seek and save the lost, and that no one is too lost. Praising God for the life of Johnny, what a living testament of God’s grace and goodness to us sinners. God is truly so good to us.
Praise be to God, Our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ!!! Yes, Jesus can save anyone!
Even ME! I am a Johnny story as well – I know Johnny too and I am blessed to witness Jesus’s work in his life. I knew of Jesus since childhood, but I never met Him intimately until I was 43 years old. My friends, it is never too late for Jesus; anything is possible for Christ.
Turn to him now in faith, repent of your sin, and trust in the fact that Jesus is the Christ! Believe that He came to earth to save sinners; to save the lost and do something for mankind that we could never do for ourselves. He was crucified, died, and was buried for the sins of the world, and then he rose again 3 days later, conquering the power of Satan and sin for eternity.
Through faith in Jesus Christ we have access His “Resurrection Power” – our sin is buried with Christ – Romans 6:6 “We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.”
Friends, it is never too late and the bible is very clear that if you allow Christ to rule in your life; it will never be the same again – AMEN!
2 Cor 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
